About Anna Djumic
Hi, I’m Anna Djumic – a certified aromatherapist, natural skincare formulator, and the creator behind Healthy Living Remedies.
My Journey From Cold Climate Struggles to Natural Solutions
Growing up in Minnesota’s harsh winters, I experienced firsthand the toll that cold, dry weather takes on the body. Cracked hands, chapped lips, respiratory discomfort, and persistent dry skin were my constant companions for six months of every year. Traditional store-bought remedies left my skin feeling worse, and I knew there had to be a better way.
This personal struggle led me to pursue a degree in Holistic Health Sciences from the University of Minnesota (2013), followed by professional certification as a Clinical Aromatherapist from the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (2015). I later completed advanced training in Natural Skincare Formulation at Formula Botanica (2017) and became a Certified Herbalist through the American Herbalists Guild (2018).
Professional Experience
For over 11 years, I’ve specialized in natural remedies for seasonal health challenges:
- Winter Wellness Consultant (2015-2019): I worked with Northern Climate Health Center in Duluth, Minnesota, helping over 1,500 clients develop personalized natural routines for surviving harsh winters. I specialized in respiratory support, skin barrier protection, and immune wellness during cold months.
- Natural Product Developer (2019-2022): I formulated seasonal wellness products for three organic skincare brands, focusing specifically on cold-weather formulations. I created over 40 products including chest rubs, healing salves, vapor treatments, and winter hair care solutions.
- Independent Wellness Practitioner (2022-Present): I now consult with individuals and families seeking natural approaches to winter health challenges, while documenting my research and seasonal experiments on this blog.
My Hands-On Testing Philosophy
Every single remedy I share has been tested during actual Minnesota winters – and that’s saying something. I don’t recommend anything I haven’t personally made, used, and refined through multiple winter seasons.
Over the past decade, I’ve created and tested:
- Over 100 chest rub and vapor formulations for congestion relief
- 75+ healing salves and balms for cracked skin and wind burn
- 60+ throat teas and warming beverages for respiratory comfort
- 50+ foot soak recipes for cold, tired feet
- 40+ hair masks and treatments for winter hair damage
- Dozens of humidifier blends with essential oils for indoor air quality
- Countless natural remedies for my own family, friends, and clients
I’ve spent 11 winters testing these remedies in Minnesota’s brutal climate (where temperatures regularly drop to -20°F), and they work. If something can survive a Minnesota winter, it will work anywhere.
Why I Created This Blog
I started Healthy Living Remedies in 2022 because I was tired of seeing people suffer through winter unnecessarily. The remedies that transformed my life – and my clients’ lives – needed to be accessible to everyone struggling with seasonal health challenges.
My mission is simple: provide practical, tested, affordable natural solutions for the unique health challenges that cold weather brings. No expensive products, no complicated procedures – just real remedies that work with ingredients you can find at your local store or already have in your kitchen.
Personal Life & Living Laboratory
I live in Duluth, Minnesota, with my husband and our two children (ages 8 and 11), who have become my most honest product testers. Our home is my living laboratory, where I experiment with natural remedies daily. We also have a golden retriever named Buddy, whose winter paw care routine has taught me invaluable lessons about protecting skin in harsh conditions.
My kitchen doubles as my formulation space, and my bathroom cabinet is filled entirely with remedies I’ve made myself. During winter months, you’ll find me testing new chest rub formulations, experimenting with warming foot soaks, and brewing various herbal teas to support respiratory health.
I maintain an indoor herb garden year-round (essential in Minnesota!) and grow medicinal plants in my outdoor garden during the brief summer months. This allows me to work with fresh, organic ingredients whenever possible.
What Makes My Approach Different
Real Winter Experience: I don’t write about winter remedies from a warm climate. I live in one of the coldest regions in the United States and deal with these challenges daily for half the year.
Family-Tested: Every remedy safe for children has been tested on my own kids first. Every pet remedy has been used on Buddy. I never recommend anything I wouldn’t use on my own family.
Seasonal Expertise: While I know general natural wellness, my specialty is the unique health challenges that come with cold weather, dry indoor heating, and dramatic temperature changes.
Practical Formulations: I focus on remedies that actually work in extreme conditions, not just mild climates. If it works in -20°F weather, it will work for you.
My Promise to You
Every recipe, blend, and remedy I share has been personally formulated, tested, and refined through multiple winter seasons. I provide honest, research-backed information combined with real-world experience. I’ll tell you what works, what doesn’t, and why – no hype, just results.
Thank you for trusting me to help you navigate winter’s health challenges naturally.
